Decking or landscaping screws are mainly used for attaching decking panels to timber frame. They are usually coated with multi layer corrosion resistant plating therefore these screws are ideal for outdoor applications. There is few different types of decking screws but the most popular are:
Classic Decking screws: classic screws used to attached decking boards down. Use a electric driver to fasten them properly and remember to set correct torque so you do not drive them to far. If you drive them to deep , water can collect in the hole and rot them quicker. Also available ion stainless steel for structures located in costal areas or highly polluted areas.
Reverse Thread Screws: The fine threads which can be reversed or just very shallow are intended to push down any material that was raised up as the main part of the screw descended into the board.
Rugged Structural Screws: Toughest of all tapes of decking screws. They come with very sharp tip and knurled shoulder thread to ease the entry of the upper part of the screw.
Ledger Type Screws: Used to bind ledger boards to rim joists
