Pushing in one button and pulling up on the lever on the saw handle is all that is required to bring the blade housing down. Spindle up will activate on its own and will disengage the switch for your protection if it is already engaged. At this point, there is no other route for the dust to take other than via the space left between the rails. There is a workaround for that as well; simply pull the splinter guard up, and the problem will be solved.
