Mafell MT55cc Circular Plunge-Cut Saw 110V + 2 x 1.6m FS Guide Rails KIT (917636 + 204805)
Mafell MT55cc is a really impressive piece of equipment. It's been mastered to perfection and is accurate and strong. Mafell MT55cc comes in a T-Max Systainer, which is the same as Festool's, and is therefore compatible with all T-Loc systainers from Festool and Mirka. Mafell plunge cut saws can be used with Mafell guide rails, but they also fit Makita, Festool, and Bosch rails. Mafell gives you a tilt range of +48 to -1 degrees, while other brands give you only +45 to 0 degrees plus 1 degree undercut. Obviously, 90-degree joints are the standard because they give you that nice glue pocket. The MT55cc can cut up to 57mm deep, while its competitors can only cut 55mm deep. There is a reason for it: when the saw is on the rail, it can still cut up to 51mm deep, which is enough to cut 2" wood. You cannot do that with a Festool or Makita saw, can you?
Another very useful feature is a positive stop (every 1mm on the front of the saw) with a fine adjuster on the grub screw. By twisting the depth indicator, you can set the cutting depth on the rail or off the rail. When you use your saw on the guide rail, it's easy to see the cut line because it will be the edge of the rail. Problems usually start when you cut the piece without using the guide rail and tilt the saw. Normally, you can't see where the blade goes. Not with the Mafell MT55. There's a special line indicator on the front of the saw base that moves with the blade when you tilt the saw, so you always know where the cut line is. For your convenience, Mafell made a completely new way to change the blade.
If you push one button and lift a lever on the saw handle, the blade housing will fall down. Spindle up starts on its own, and the switch is turned off for your safety. If you're wondering why the blade is fully enclosed, the answer is simple: it helps keep dust out. The only way the dust can get out now is through the space between the rails. There is a way to fix that too: just push down the splinter guard and you're done. The Mafell MT55CC has a scoring function that can be quickly turned on with a single movement. It can also cut straight lines as cleanly as a stationary machine. This can be done even when the splinter guard is worn. The Mafell MT55CC can make clean cuts with the utmost precision and without any tearing.
